w.bloggar

I really do love WordPress – I like the appearance, the functionality, the control I have; in fact, there is hardly anything I don’t like about WordPress… notice I said hardly.

The one thing that I didn’t like about blogger, and what I haven’t so far liked about WordPress, is that there wasn’t a program linked prominently on their websites to allow remote publication. I wouldn’t call myself a lazy blogger, but clicking a link (one I need to scroll down the page to find) to go to a control panel, to click another link to write my post seems unneeded. Even more importantly, blog clients allow you to write blogs offline and save quick drafts you can go back to again within seconds.

Now yes, I’m aware you can email in your new posts, but I never quite liked that idea. For some reason I still don’t. For me it’s either through the web directly or using an application, much like Livejournal has with Semagic (which is easier to find than it is to miss).

Until today I wasn’t aware that both Blogger and WordPress have applications that also have the exact same ability. It’s not that they’re not advertised, but I felt I had to go looking for it through the documentation rather than it being common knowledge on creating my blogs. Despite this, I did find such a list and want to share my favourite with anyone that might be interested.

As the title suggests my favourite is called w.bloggar and it has a lot of nifty features. Of course the huge plus for me is that I don’t need to mess about logging into my blog page everytime I want to write a post. Secondly, it can be used for more than just WordPress and is also compatible with Blogger, LiveJournal, MSN Spaces, TypePad, and many more besides! It works just as well as logging in, allowing users to use markup, include pictures and files, and format each post as they see fit. I could go on but I’ll finish by saying that the built in spell checker, blog preview and ability to post to several blogs at once if you choose to are also very welcome features.

This will be my first post using w.bloggar so fingers crossed it lives up to my high expectations!
